Mission: Stars Around the Well
Location: Shuttle | In Space
Timeline: Current

ON:

Fang was the first to arrive at the shuttle bay. He checked the shuttle to make sure all was well and stocked what was needed. Vance arrived second followed by Walker. The men worked side by side to load the shuttle, check the weapons and hazard suits. They waited for the rest of the group. All through it Fang couldn't help but feel like they were going to have a difficult away mission ahead of them.

Adrianna soon arrived with a take out mug of coffee. She'd managed to raid the coffee shop for some real stuff. She was silent. Her eyes went to Vance, this feeling a little too familiar. She felt uneasy.

Vance smiled and winked. "Hello Adri. I think we're mission buddies." He held out his hand. "We're supposed to hold hands the whole time, I swear."

“I would rather you didn’t, for one thing, you may need both hands to work,” Doctor McDonald said drily as he approached the shuttle, “and for another, I did not bring a sick bag.”

Fresh out of surgery, albeit with a detour to change into a fresh uniform, his mood was far from a pleasant one. Abandoning his patients did not sit well, although he knew Dr. Alexander was more than capable. Even so, he would rather remain aboard than head out into the great unknown.

Adrianna raised a brow at Vance and pulled her coffee closer to her body as if Vance was only saying it to steal the good coffee. Adrianna looked around to MacDonald and smirked, handing him a second take out mug of real coffee. She was still silent. Looking back to Vance, she tapped on her cup in the pattern they had between them, indicating she needed it before she was willing to speak.

Vance snorted. "She's a couple cups away from speech." He looked over at Sab. "Hubby not coming?"

Sabastian shrugged. "He was going to but....he fell asleep."

"Oh my Gods did you Vulcan neck pinch him to keep him home?"

"He has a concussion....the doc said he should rest I had to...improvise."

Vance snorted again. "Ohhhh I get it we're a shuttle of morally grey officers huh?"

Adrianna snorted and settled into a seat, nursing her coffee like her life depended in it. At least it wasn't the garbage ration packs dictated they drink.

For his part, McDonald had actually smiled as he accepted the coffee, nodding in thanks to his friend as he found an out of the way spot to sit, his medical bags stowed under his seat. If they did happen to find survivors out there, who knew what condition they would be in and he had tried to bring as much as possible crammed into the two bags he had hauled down to the shuttle bay.

Lanna stepped onboard the shuttle giving an apologetic smile. “Sorry I’m late, I was detained by a little someone who wouldn’t let mummy go.”

Fang smiled. "No problem Counselor. Alright everyone. Strap in. Lift off in five minutes. Walker take helm."

Sabastian gave a mock salute and powered up the shuttle. It didn't take long for the doors to close and the bay doors to be open once all personnel were cleared from the shuttle bay. The ship drifted out into the silence of space an eerie feeling settling over the group. It was a quiet journey and Vance, who sat at sensors studied the read outs. He gave a low whistle. "So much debris. I am picking up a Starfleet ship...I can't get a read on survivors but I can read their core systems intact we may be able to get a few parts we need for the engine."

Fang's lips pressed together. "Counselor sensing anything?"

Lanna looked up at Fang as he asked for her input, “That’s a good question actually, I’m not sensing anything particular but….” She paused and shook her head. “There’s something I can’t quite put my finger on.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I’m sorry I can’t give you any more than that.”

Adrianna looked at her monitor and groaned a little. She finished the last few mouthfuls of coffee before saying, "I'm only getting echoes of buoys and distress signals. I'm not getting any more incoming waves though. So, that's good." Her eyes went to Vance, "I'm getting memories of that time we found all of those children. It's not sitting well."

“How so?” McDonald queried. He welcomed a distraction and information could help Jinx … it certainly couldn’t hurt. “I’m fairly certain one of those ‘children’ has hidden some of my medical supplies somewhere on the ship by the way. She seems quite adept at acquiring things. We should have brought her along.”

Adrianna considered how to answer for a few moments, figuring out what could and couldn't be said, "the ship we were on-- well, it was dead in the water after we and some freighter got double crossed. We knew that the freighter didn't have any survivors-- we literally watched what happened on the screen. We managed to pull it in so that we could strip it for parts so that we could get home. Everyone said that they felt like they were being watched-- which was impossible, everyone was dead. We checked everyone too." She shrugged a little, "when we opened the smuggler hatches, we found around 30 children. We removed them from the ship whilst we figured out what to do. But even with the freighter completely empty of people-- I don't know, it just felt like there some someone watching."

Fang sighed. "Alright children, let's not scare one another with ghost stories."

Sabastian snorted. He'd actually thought ahead and had an inhibitor to stop him from sensing things. Away missions were always stressful so he had made it a tradition to wear one when they left the ship. It allowed him to work without sensing anything and this way he was able to focus. "Alright I've found the bay. The doors are open. We can land there. We'll be in the ship in about ten minutes. I suggest we get suited up."

Fang gave a nod. "Everyone get into your suits we don't know what we'll find. Grab a phaser and a barding kit from the back."

"Did not think you would get easily scared, Fang," Adrianna chuckled, before standing up and going to get her suit and phaser.

Fang gave Adri a look. "Go get suited up. No teasing the XO."

Adrianna stood next to Fang and grinned, "once this mission is over, be warned Fratello..." She then left to suit up.

Fang smiled shaking his head.

Lanna was feeling as though she was about to step into the lions den as she suited up, she felt like something was calling to her and she wasn’t sure entirely what, or whether she was just imagining it.
