Zai was on his way to pick up Sabastian from Sickbay. He ran into Adri on her way back with drinks with friends. "Hey, how are you doing? Just the person I was thinking about."
Adrianna was smiling to herself. It had been nice to catch up with old friends, especially ones that didn't know about her situation. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the idea of her friends being happily married and starting a family, mind. Either way, she was happy for them. She was brought out of her thoughts at the familiar voice, "Zai, I have had better days but this one has ended on a high. Fang is in sickbay-- so I'm going to go visit. He'll be waking up any minute.. are you ok?" She rolled her shoulder, it still aching a little from earlier.
"He's awake. I just saw him. I'm heading to pick up Sab from Sickbay here." He sighed. "I need your advice...and chocolate. Do you have time for cake?"
She looked back in the direction of the ship for a moment, thinking. Adrianna looked back to Zai, "for you? Si, I have time. I should probably warn you about Sabastian's state anyway. Though I do not apologise for it."
"Oh I’ve seen him. He's the first person I went to see. He's recovering well. Their doctor though didn't take the pain away just fixed the nose he broke when he fell and got rid of the bruises. She apparently has a sadistic streak." Zai laughed. "But it's alright. He'll recover."
"Si, myself and some old friends ensured that neither Fang nor Sab were completely unscathed," she muttered, "the worst of the injuries are because of us, not those two. Hell, I admit to breaking Sab's nose. Though it was a happy accident."
"You broke it? Didn't he break it when he fell?"
"That's what the report says," she smirked before clarifying, "we've kept the details sketchy so that neither one ends up in the brig. The security chief on base is an old friend of mine. He helped me find you. He owed me a favour anyway. I just didn't think that I'd be cashing it in for two teste di cazzo."
He sighed. "Oh Adri. Sabastian is not a bad guy. I think you two got off on the wrong foot."
"I know," she nodded, "I spoke to my friend. The broken nose was genuinely an accident but it did feel a little good following how he spoke to me the other day, either in your presence or not. Not to mention that he tried to hit me-- in his defense, I got in between Fang and him, and he was already committed to hitting Fang. He was concerned in the moment and I know he tried to apologise for it."
They arrived at the restaurant and Zai sat down ... well almost collapsed into the chair. "I'm in trouble."
"Let me guess," Adrianna sat down opposite him, "you were too angry with Fang to tell him the truth about who you are and you've decided to pursue things with Sab for the wrong reasons."
"Are they wrong? I talked to Fang today he was upset that I was thinking of giving Sabastian a shot tried to talk me out of it. I asked him if he loved me and he said we're friends, he cares for me. But it's not just that." He sighed. "Back at the Academy Sab was honest from day one. In fact he said, I kid you not, on the first day I will marry you." He laughed. "I was taken aback but...he pursued me. Fang laid him out several times in the Academy and he kept trying to win my affection. When Fang left Sab was there, I almost died my last year at the Academy and Sab saved me. He literally risked his life to save mine." He shrugged.
"Then there are the other things that have been playing in my mind."
Ade could help but smile, being reminded of Vance stating that she'd be his wife at their first meeting. The smile faded quickly as she returned her attention to the conversation. "Between yourself and Fang-- I give up. I really do. Both of you are madly in love and the only thing stopping it, is you. If you tell him who you are, all of this goes away. Why ask for my advice if you do not take it. I learned a phrase when I was last in San Fran: 'Ask-hole'. It's where someone asks for advice and does not take it." She sighed, standing up about to leave, "I will not get involved any further on this matter, not until you follow the advice and stop this from going around in a --" she drew a circle in the air, forgetting the word in the moment.
"But his whole stance is his loyalty to me, the me he met on Capella...is obligation. How can I be sure that his actions after he finds out will be out of obligation?"
"You will never know until you tell him," she practically hissed, "you cannot make a decision on what he will do or feel because you are not allowing him to make an informed decision. Stop being an ask-hole. I'm done. Come back to me after you tell him." She shook her head and turned to leave.
He'd hoped talking with Adrianna would help but it hadn't. He understood her but maybe he was in the wrong. "I'm sorry I know you are his friend I should have not spoke to you about this." He stood to leave. "I have to go. Sab is getting out soon and I need to get him and get dinner ready." Sadly he hadn't allowed him self to make friends that are confidants...maybe he'd call his sister. She would give him advice. She's the only one that knew everything other then Sabastian but he couldn't talk to him about this since he was the topic.
Adrianna grabbed his arm before he got out of reach. She pulled him into a hug as she spoke, "do not misunderstand my frustration. I want to be there to help. But please, for once in your life, do as your told and tell Fang. If it goes to merde, do what you want with Sab. You've just caught me at a bad time."
He hugged her back. "It's fine." He sighed. "There is so much more involved. I will tell him but that doesn't change the fact that I ... don't know if what's between us is just love or wishful thinking."
"You won't until you talk to him," she let him go, "now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go beat Fang to a pulp."
He laughed. "Good, give him a smack for me too."
