Stars Around the Well

Timeline: Day 2 - Evening
Having arrived home earlier than Jarin, Lanna had as usual picked up their son from nursery and was busy making dinner.
She’d taken a moment to herself pulling out Jarin’s spare medical tricorder she had given herself a scan, only for it to yield no results. As much as she loved having their son, she was hoping that maybe all their attempts at conceiving another baby would have yielded results. As much as she knew it wasn’t always a quick process especially with the stresses and strains of Starfleet life, but she was disappointed that there was no sign of her being pregnant.
Sighing she got back to preparing their dinner, giving Jayce a loving hug and a kiss as he sat eating his dinner.
It had been a long day and Jarin was ready to get home to his family when they entered their quarters he smiled and fluffed his sons hair before taking his wife in his arms and giving her a kiss. “How was your day dear” he asked looking her in the eyes, a smile growing on his face.
Lanna couldn’t help but smile, Jarin had a way of making even the gloomiest of days feel so much better. “It was okay” she returned his kiss with another. “But it’s better now you’re here. Can I get you anything to drink, or do you want to change first?”
"I'll get changed" he smiled and made he way to the closet to pick something out.
Lanna nodded. “Ohh I borrowed your tricorder” She motioned to where she’d put it. “Still nothing.” She sighed. “But as a friend reminded me, it’ll happen eventually. I just need to be more patient.”
"Exactly" he smiled "biology is a tricky thing." Jarin had his clothes and started to change.
“I should know that already, I’ve counselled women who’ve struggled with getting pregnant, I guess I should listen to both my own advice and yours my dear Imzadi.” Lanna smiled warmly.
"That would be appreciated, love" Jarin said with a smile.
“Who am I not to listen to both my husband, and doctor” Lanna grinned. “Can I get you anything before dinner?”
He chuckled and shook his head “no thank you, love.”
“So how has your day been?” Lanna gave Jarin a curious look as she picked up a cloth to wipe their son’s mouth with. “What’s it like working with our Chief Medical Officer?”
“My day was interesting” Jarin smiled “and Doctor McDonald is rather knowledgeable.”
“I’d imagine he is, though he doesn’t seem to be a fan of having families onboard a starship.” Lanna shrugged her shoulders. “I couldn’t imagine life without Jayce onboard ship.”
“I agree. Life without him wouldn’t be the same” Jarin smiled at his wife “also glad it isn’t up to the doctor if families are allowed aboard starships.”
“Me too!” Lanna grinned. “Though everyone is entitled to their opinions, he obviously has his reasons. How’s about while we’re at the Starbase we have some time off ship, to enjoy ourselves in a stress free environment?”
“Sure” Jarin stretched “we can all use a little time off ship. What did you have in mind?”
“Ohh I was thinking a nice romantic dinner, followed by an uninterrupted evening together in quarters on the station, away from the stresses of being aboard ship. I can arrange for a babysitter for Jayce for a night.”
“Sounds good to me” Jarin said with a smile on his face.
“Wonderful” Lanna smiled, she was already planning their evening in her head as she finished cleaning up Jayce, giving his little face a wipe as he finished his food. Dinner is almost ready I just need to put it out.”
“I’ll help” Jarin got up to help his spouse get dinner ready.
“You know I enjoy this” Lanna smiled. “Being a wife, and a mother, doing the whole family thing. It’s more or less a dream come true.” She put out the plates ready to put their food out.
"I'm glad" Jarin moved over and gave his wife a kiss. "It is pretty awesome" he poured their beverages to go with their dinner and added "you and Jayce are my world."
“As you are ours Imzadi” Lanna smiled warmly. “I honestly don’t know what I’d do without you, and I never want to find out.”
“I agree” Jarin smiled at her. “Looks good” he told his wife as they sat down to eat.
“I certainly hope so, I didn’t entirely do your favourite meal justice last time so I’ve made a few changes. I hope it’s an improvement.” Lanna smiled as she picked up her knife and fork ready to eat.”
Jarin took the first bite of his meal. He knew his wife worked hard both on and off duty and the meal was rather tasty "this is good, babe."
“Mmm” Lanna nodded in agreement as she ate. She always enjoyed preparing meals she knew Jarin would like. “It’s delicious! I prepared it myself, the replicator does an okay job, but fresh is so much nicer!”
"I agree and it's perfect, babe" he smiled before using his napkin to remove the food from his lips. "You really are a great cook and you are right replicated chow can't touch your meals."
Lanna couldn’t help but blush, she always did when she was complimented. “Thank you Imzadi.”
"Very welcome" he smiled and winked at his wife before going back to his meal.
