Mission:
Stars Around the Well
Location: Adrianna and Vance's Quarters | USS Arcadia
ON:
Vance had gathered the food they needed and gotten some desserts and bottle of Engineering Hooch. The last batch before the distillery was shut down by Fang. He sighed. It had been Zai's best so far with a red Velvet liquor that he had in his hands and had tasted a few days ago falling in love with it. He wondered if Adri was okay with her messages. He smiled as he wondered if this would help her home sickness.
"I hope you will like it, Cara Mia. Let me know when you are back-- I can change whatever you need me to. This is your day. Now, I love you-- tell Vance that I love him too. Stay safe." The call cut and Adrianna was just smiling as the holo of her family home faded. She looked over at Vance and translated the last part for him, "mamma says that she loves you and reminds us that we both need to stay safe." Adrianna wiped her remaining tears and turned off the holo for now.
He entered the quarters just as the last remnants of Adri's mother's holo spoke. He waited until it stopped speaking and then smiled as Adri turned it off. "Excellent. I come with food and booze and dessert. How were the holos. Did they help?"
She stood up, walking over to him. She put her one hand softly on the back of his neck and kissed him, not caring that his hands were full, or that he could drop them. After a few moments, she broke the kiss and smiled, "thank you. They were exactly what I needed. You are such a sweetheart. I don't deserve you." Her hand moved round to cup his cheek for a moment, gazing up into his eyes with such love.
"I'm glad that they helped. Let's get this set up and you can share what Gio said to me. He sent me a message back but like I said it was Italian and frankly he had a look, then said if my sister wants to translate she will."
She stepped aside so that he could get to the dining table. She grabbed two glasses, cutlery and some plates, laying the table for them both. As she did so, she chuckled, "I'm not sure that you will want me to translate."
"Oh go ahead I think it may be better then what I'm imagining." He laughed as he laid out the food and all the desserts.
Adrianna poured the alcohol, though barely did herself half a glass, knowing that she was on duty. "So, his message for you and I quote: 'please tell Vance that he is a moron… for the dance, but the rest of the family very much approve of this gift for you. They're really looking forward to meeting him… even if it's for nothing more than to make fun of his dancing or your incident with the video call'. He also said that further to his last conversation with you, he wants to reiterate not to overthink and let nature take it's course? I hope that means something to you."
Vance who'd taken a sip of alcohol choked on it. He coughed up a storm. "...Y...yeah...got it."
"Oh, he also said that he thinks you're perfect for me and you seem like a good engineer too-- your remodeling on the Augustus has definitely helped with then--" Adrianna asked the computer for a translation, but it was the same word, "Feng Shui'. The engineers are really impressed too in a scary kind of way." She added, "I didn't know that you helped with his ship's upgrades."
He coughed again. "Yeah...I made a few adjustments that were fun and creative. I think both your brother and I felt better making them."
Adrianna nodded, "we need to talk about the message that mamma sent. Did you say that you saw all the messages?"
"Nope didn't watch them. They were private. This was something special for you."
"We'll watch mamma's together," Ade noted, "she's planning our wedding. Wants us married when we visit."
He smiled. "Sounds good." He finished putting out the food and he walked over to Adri wrapping his arms around her just feeling like he needed comfort.
Adrianna stood up and turned into him, holding him closely, resting her head on his chest. Her homesickness had faded because of his gift, but she still felt anxious about not being able to call home. "You're amazing, you know that?" She murmured into his chest.
"No, that would be you." He sighed. "I really missed you Adri."
"I'm here now," she looked up at him, smiling sweetly, "and I won't be allowing you to beam me aboard any ship but the one you're on too, again."
He smiled. "Let's eat. I have something to tell you."
She nodded and released him, going to continue eating. "Tell me you are transferring to another ship after this mission, and I'll kill you," she playfully warned.
He laughed. "Nothing like that. It's wedding related."
"Go ahead, then," she relaxed as she ate.
"I know your mother is taking care of most of it but I asked Zai to design my suit. You know he is a freaken miracle that one."
Adrianna waved him off, "that's the one thing you and I have all the power with-- what we wear. My sister in law is a fashion genius and seamstress, and wants to take me shopping, but I think I know what I want."
He smiled. "Me too. I want an actual suit. Zai told me he'd take care of it and he'll bring some drawings by."
Adrianna nodded, "no offence, but I cannot and do not wish to marry you in uniform. It's not quite you." She chuckled, "though, that does remind me--" she stood up quickly taking a mouthful as walking away. A few seconds later she returned and handed him a shirt, "I promised you that you could have this back when we got married, and-- well-- here we are." There it was, his lucky shirt, "I will miss it. It has been a great night dress."
"Oh no. It stays with you. I have visitation rights."
