Mission: Stars Around the Well
Location: Main Bridge | USS Arcadia
Timeline: Current

Adrianna walked in to see Sabastian on the bridge. She was still nursing her morning coffee and not quite ready to face the day but there was a lot of work to do and not much time to do it. This was a crucial task, that could help everyone know what they were heading into, or at least have safe points and means of escape, especially if they were 'flying blind'.

Sabastian saw her and smiled. "Good Morning Sunshine!"

Adrianna groaned and tapped her almost empty cup of coffee, "it started as joke, but now real. Can not speak standard before coffee."

"Zai said as much." He tapped his ear and tossed her a device. "He grabbed this from your brothers. Is going to give it to Vance until he learns to speak but I get to use it today."

"What is?" She asked putting it in her ear.

Sabastian spoke a few words and the device translated it to Italian for her. "For those mornings that you just want to swear in your own language."

"Merde!" Her face lit up before continuing in her native tongue, "where has this been all of my life!?"

"Your brothers are clever people." He sighed. "Why don't you un-zombie and I'll get the grid sent to your terminal and we can discuss."

"Ah, no, just the one," she chuckled, "he works for research and development." She finished her coffee and wandered over to her terminal.

Sabastian's hands danced over the navigation console. He had to admit that he missed all this being in Engineering. Flying was a hobby of his and navigating the stars was always something romantic for him. He sent her the grids and moved over to her station pulling up a chair. "Okay. Shall we go over the grid patterns?"

"Si," she pulled up the feedback she had, "so I sent out a repeating message, simply playing the lyrics to a children's movie from a century or so ago called Frozen-- into the unknown. Let's see where we actually heard it."

"Oh god." He sighed. "Are you trying to get us blown up? I mean I've heard the song...Zai watches the movie, he hums it, sings it, The bloody song is called Let it Go. He can't let it go. My brain will explode. But let's see if we can stir the hornets nest with it."

"No, but it was a safe enough thing on repeat for no-one to think it's Starfleet," she chuckled, "and no-- not Let it Go. The song is called Into the Unknown. I thought it was apt. I made it look like a child sent it."

"Oh thank that Gods. Marginally less nauseating."

Adrianna chuckled, "thank you. But, yes, so, let's read the pings. Seems like there may be a few." She noted her screen reading.

"Let's go grid by grid and map them and then once we've done all the grids we can see if there are any holes and I'll produce a sensor log. Sound like a plan?"

Adrianna nodded, "left to right, up to down." She expanded her screen to read it off better.

Sabastian worked with the science department to mirror her pattern and the data started coming in. He sighed. "So it will be a few hours before we can compile all this together into something. How was your night last night after dinner?"

Adrianna was focused, but soon was pulled out of the focus at the idea that everything was done for now. She sat back in her seat, "not what I was expecting, if I am honest. I don't know. Zai killed the mood, then everything with Annabelle-- it was a straight to bed, kind of night-- again."

"Well that's not a bad thing is it. I mean you both at least were able to rest." He looked at her and smiled. "Ah, you were expecting fireworks."

"I don't know what I was expecting," she sighed, "one day we'll get the right timing. It took almost a year for him to kiss me and it was worth it. I am happy to wait for him again. He's mine, after all."

"Yes but the intimacy part shouldn't matter if you two are in love. All in due course. You two have a life time."

"Oh, Madonna, I don't need 'the talk'," she chuckled, "we aren't that close-- you and I, I mean."

That stung a little. "I guess not. But it's true nonetheless." He looked at the read outs. "Hm...Grid one is already done. We should have a summary incoming in a few moments. Let's move to grid two and three."

"For the record-- It's not a topic that I would even discuss with my mother," she smiled, seeing the disappointment, "it's just an uneasy topic for me to approach, or admit." She pulled the next two sets of data for him, reading them out.

They talked back and forth and minutes spread into hours until something started beeping.

"Huh." Sabastian said.

Adrianna looked over and reached out to tap the screen, "huh, indeed. You seeing this?"

"There grid nine...debris. But sensors can't tell what kind so we have to head that way." He sighed. "Let me run this by the CO on duty."

"Grid nine, that's near the edge, right?" She looked over, "never know, we may be able to go on a mini adventure without getting killed or go missing."

He sighed. "Alright. Be right back." He let the science continue with the grid scans and headed into the ready room. He winced seeing Fang.

"There is a chime you know."

Sabastian rolled his eyes. "We found debris. Can't tell what it is but it's there."

Fang gave a nod switching to all business. "Set a course and execute impulse sped. Have tactical scan the area for threats, shields up but maintain yellow alert all hands to stations. I'm calling the Captain to the bridge."

Sabastian gave a nod. "On it." He turned and headed out taking his place.
