Together Again

Mission: Stars Around the Well
Location: USS Arcadia | Zai's Quarters

ON:

The shuttle had landed inside the bay a few moments ago and Vance and Sabastian sat in their seats waiting to hear the all clear that the bay was pressurized. There would be a personnel officer to greet then and take the to their quarters. Well for Vance at least. Sabastian had arraigned to surprise Zai and as a result Frankie was by the bay doors waiting for him.

When the signal was given both men wished one another luck in their surprises and parted ways. The ops crew would have their trunks delivered the next day so Sabastian grabbed his overnight sack and headed out seeing Frankie there indeed waiting.

Sabastian smiled. “Hello little brother. Were we able to keep this our little secret?”

“Only the CO knows…and the personnel department and Fang will know tomorrow when he gets the new crew roster. So, for now it is you and I and Annabelle.”

Sabastian smiled. “Excellent. Can I use your quarters to freshen up before I surprise Zai?”

Frankie gave a nod. “Do I have a choice without incurring what are they called again…nuggies.”

Sabastian laughed. “Nope no choice at all.” He slung his arm around his little brother. “I won’t stay long.”

The two headed out. True to his word he was showered, changed and was feeling like his normal self after the long journey within the hour. After a quick tea with Annabelle and Frankie Sabastian headed out.

His heart slammed against his chest the closer he got to Zai’s quarters. He was nervous and happy and damn but he had missed Zai. They were going to head into the dead zone soon and there was no way that he would be out of contact with the man he loved.

He got to Zai’s door about fifteen minutes to the two-hour mark from when he’d landed and he took a deep breath before entering the code; he knew it since he’d helped Zai set it and add an override lock.

The door parted and Sabastian entered the dark and quiet quarters. He moved towards the bedroom thinking Zai was there but when he arrived the room was empty. The bed had no pillows and no blankets.

Sabastian turned around and would have left if he hadn't noticed a lump on the floor by the floor to ceiling window. He moved slowly towards it and was surprised to see Zai sleeping there. He'd set up a pillow and must have fallen asleep looking at the stars. Sabastian noticed that the quarters were a lot warmer then Zai normally liked but just right for Sabastian's Vulcan blood. He smiled.

Sabastian laid down on the ground between the window and Zai. Smiling he watched Zai sleep. In that moment he was reminded of how much he loved him. From the little crease on his brow when he slept to the way Zai’s long hair seemed to fan out around the pillow.

He reached over and gently traced the spot from between Zai’s brow to the tip of his nose. “Darling…wake up.”

Zai stirred slightly but didn’t wake.

Sabastian chuckled. He leaned over gently kissing Zai’s cheek.

Zai moaned and his eyes fluttered open.

Sabastian smiled.

Zai blinked, closed his eyes, opened them and gasped. “Sabastian!”

“Hello Darling. Miss me?”

It had been a surprise that Zai had been needing. They spent the night talking, drinking coco, cuddling by the stars and just enjoying one another’s company. It was pretty early in the morning when they saw their way to bed each trying to stay awake so as not to miss a minute of being together.

In the end they fell asleep and were rudely awakened by an incessant chiming of the door.

It was Sabastian who found his way to consciousness first and then Zai.

Zai groaned. “Gods, make it stop.”

Sabastian ran a hand down his face. “I sense him. It’s your fearless leader Fang Lee.”

“Gods, yeah, okay I’ll get up.”

“No Darling, let me. I’ll just remove my boxers and stroll out naked to open the door blow his brain clear to bits.”

Zai snorted and then laughed into the pillow. “Be nice. I’m getting up.”

Sabastian was already up but contrary to what he'd said he just slipped on a shirt heading out to the door. He hit the panel and crossed his arms. “What can I do for you Lee?”

Fang, who’d been expecting Zai jumped back. He blinked, and then blinked again. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Sabastian smiled. “We’re about to enter a dead zone coms wise. Wasn’t going to risk Zai being alone with you and no coms. I’m the new temporary nav/helm officer. Just helping you all out.” He gave a salute, which he knew, looked ridiculous in his boxes and a t-shirt. “XO, Sir.”

“Ohhh I will vent you so badly out the first…”

“Lee Fang what do you want?” Zai’s voice came from he bedroom as he stepped out not bothering to put on a shirt just leaving his boxer shorts on. He walked up to Sabastian and laid his head on Sab’s shoulder. “It’s early, like six AM early, like I’m not on shift until one PM.”

Fang looked from Sabastian to Zai his face turning red. “I … I wanted to go to breakfast, to talk. We haven't talked since I found out who you really are. Since your lie was reveled." He hated the bitterness in his own tone.

Zai felt Sabastian was about to blow. His anger was rolling off him. He wrapped his arms around Sabastian's waist to temper the rage. "Fang, I appreciate you wish to talk but now is not the time. If you wish I will chat with you another day. As for now. You have work, and Sabastian you are off until tomorrow so I suggest you stop playing around with Fang and get back into bed were I can have you to myself for a little longer."

He turned to the door. "Goodbye Fang." He hit the close door panel and smiled up at Sabastian. "Mind blown to bits enough?"

Sabastian laughed. "Gods I love you Zai."

He smiled. "I know." Leaning up he kissed Sabastian's lips. "Back to bed with you."

They crawled back into bed and Zai laid his head on Sabastian's shoulder falling asleep within seconds feeling secure and safe.

Sabastian on the other hand lay awake, his arms around Zai, thanking every God in the universe bringing Zai's love to him.
