Mission: Stars Around the Well
Location: Tactical Dept | USS Arcadia
Timeline: Post Mission - Docked at Starbase 6

It has been a few days since they had arrived at the station. Fang had compiled a bunch to updates he wanted to make as the XO. As he finished his Tactical updates he sat back and smiled recalling his take your XO to work day.

Fang looked at his schedule. Today he was off to see K'Var and how her Tactical office word. He was actually excited about this. It would be fun. So far he'd only been to Ops and the doctor had refused so they'd had a formal sit down. He'd also spent some time in Coms so things were off to a positive start.

Walking through the halls Fang felt a bit tired. It would be a long day and he'd gotten very little sleep last night. It took him no time to get to the Tact/Sec offices and he rang the chime to K'Var's office.

“Please enter” came the reply, K’Var was ready and waiting. A smile on her face and a warm cup of milk “would you like anything?”

He smiled. "I'm good thanks." He looked around. "I am ready to learn about the Tact/Sec department." He sighed. "What are we starting with the practical or the reports." He laughed. "I feel like I'm back at the Academy."

"Are we going full on new officer training from day one" K'Var asked with a grin.

He laughed. "Hey I'm here to learn what you need to teach me so that I can make things easier for you and how your department runs. Things I need to know." He smiled. "So if that means new officer training let's get that done."

"It was an attempt at humor" K'Var admitted and if Caitians blushed she would be blushing.

"How about we start with something simple. Walk me through your monthly reports and tell me how we can streamline things to make it easier to file and to take up less of your time." Fang clapped his hands. "You lead the way."

"Well they do ask redundant questions" K'Var almost laughed out loud. "If you'd come with me. I figure might as well kill two birds with one stone... as the saying goes." K'Var smiled at Fang "I'd like you to join me for my security rounds while we discuss the department."

He grinned. "That sounds fine....um....do you mind if I take notes?"

"That is perfectly fine" K'Var said with a smile. "The department seems to be a little ill prepared when it comes to emergency procedures" there was a slight pause "however I have a few drill set up to help with that."

"What are the biggest weaknesses at the moment?" Fang had to know what they were and what the comps were. One of the things the XO courses had all said was that trouble would happen when least expected and Fang wanted the ship to expect it at every turn....at least for this mission.

"Organization and team work" Lieutenant K'Var answered quickly. "However I believe we will get those kinks worked out as we go along and get the feel for each individual in our teams. Drill's will also assist in this preparation" the Caitian shrugged.

"Agreed. But don't be too worried. Sometimes when you are thrown into the thick of things...that's when team work really builds." He sighed. "You're an old hat at Tactical can I ask you something?"

“Of course” she replied softly.

"I get the feeling we're...about to be knee deep an tactical situations. I am at a loss on how we can cover any holes on a ship this size and I will need your help...I am afraid I am somewhat lacking as an XO. It's one of those deep wise sayings, the heart beats reluctantly but it still beats. While I want this XO post I have much to overcome and my tactical knowledge is a bit... rusty. I'm used to being brawn not brains."

Fang sighed. He was excited about this new chapter. he had just finished the XO test a few short hours ago. He hadn't expected a speedy reply but it came nonetheless.

Thank you for taking the test that would qualify you for your XO post on the USS Arcadia. Please note that your test has been evaluated and scored. The results were forwarded, long with the decision on your XO position, to your CO. Please make an appointment at your and your CO's convenience.

Fang smiled. "Well that was fast." Before he could say anything further he got another note, this one from the CO.


Fang,
Your test results are in. Can you pop by and see me tomorrow morning?


Fang smiled, clicked off the message and sent the reply. This would be a new chapter in his life and he was looking forward to it.
