Adrianna nodded her understanding. "Have you told him how you actually feel, yet?"
"No, what difference does it make. He said what he said. I've held on for so long I don't know if I should just give up. Sabastian has always been up front with me. He I told him about how I feel about Fang and he respected that but maybe it's time to just...give up."
"Vaffanculo," she rubbed the bridge of her nose, muttering, "if only men on men action could produce children, there would be no one left alive." She took a breath and sighed, "look-- no offence, but men are simple creatures. Nothing is set in stone until they have all the facts. Tell him. What do you have to lose? You tell him and nothing, you've not lost anything. But-- I know as a fact that he feels the same way about you. He's just a stubborn asino."
He sighed. "He did say that even if he feels the same he can't date me...but I guess I will eventually have to clear things out with him. It's not fair to Sabastian if I don't." He shook his head. "I just need some time to mend. I'm going to enjoy the last of the time on base and just rest. Clear my head."
"You need to tell him," she insisted, "or I will." She paused, "may I strongly suggest that you do not continue playing house with that guy back there. He's not a friend-- he's a walking time bomb that does not have your best interest in mind."
"Why do you say that?"
"Call it intuition," she replied with a small shrug, "I get things wrong-- I'm human, but everything in me is telling me that he is not a good guy. Look, I'm willing to put you up in a hotel, myself. Just-- please. Do not stay with him."
Before he could respond a familiar voice called out. "Zai!"
He turned to see Lee Fang coming towards them. He sighed not feeling ready for this but knowing that it was not easily avoided. "Hello Lee Fang."
Adrianna lowered her voice, "want me to stay?"
Zai gave a bit of a nod.
Fang sat down. "Are you alright? What happened?"
Zai was quiet a moment. "I have some questions. Are you in love with someone on Capella?"
Fang looked from on to the other. Sabastian had hinted that Zai had heard the conversation and he was an empath. A lie would be a hard sell. "Yes."
"And if you fell for someone now you would not date them until you are certain that the person you fell for is alive."
Fang swallowed. "Yes."
"If you found them and they loved you and you hated them would you still dedicate to being with them no matter how you felt about someone else."
"Yes."
"What if they hated you and wanted to part of you?"
"I'd still not date anyone here because I made a vow."
Zai smiled. He looked over at Adrianna. "And there you have it. If you'll excuse me I have one more vacation day." He stood and before Fang could stop him he walked away.
Adrianna nodded and waited for Zai to leave before speaking, "you alright, fratello?"
He sighed. He sighed. "No...I don' t know."
"If you ever meet my actual brothers," she sighed, "you'll get along well with them. You're all idioti when it comes to matters of the heart."
"I don't deny that." He dropped his head on the table. "Somehow I always put my foot in my mouth."
"Do you know why he's mad?" Adrianna asked, "take into account what he has asked you and the fact that I called you an idiot."
Fang sighed. "I...he was asking me about holding onto the past I guess why I don't date but why is that making him so damn angry!..." He shook his head. "No, not angry, sad."
"You're off duty, right?" Adrianna asked.
"Yes, for another twelve hours."
She leant over and hit him around the head with the palm of her hand, physically reprimanding him. "Madonna!" She then cussed and muttered some derogatory statements in her native language before saying, "he's in love with you, cazzone!"
Fang, who was rubbing the back of his head where she'd whacked him, looked at her. "He...no. We're friends...he ..." The gears in his head started turning. "Wait...then...he just..." He dropped his head back on the table. "But...then I mean I still can't do anything about it...I'm really trying not to even look at what I feel for him what about Capella. I made a promise to..."
"Promise or not," she sat back in her seat, "that man loves you and is currently heart broken."
Fang's eyes widened. "I'm an idiot."
"You want me to hit you again, or you good?" She went to stand up to leave.
"One more hit works."
Instead of hitting him, she leaned down and kissed the top of his head, "find a way of fixing things. Even if you can't love-- you should value his friendship more than anything else. Do not lose him."
Fang kept his head down. He felt like swearing like tearing an entire ship apart but most of all he was finding it hard to not cry.
