Zai for some reason found himself having lunch with Adrianna. He had no idea how he'd let himself be talked into that but hey, there he was on the station waiting for her to join him.
"Sorry I'm late," she apologized as she dropped into the seat opposite him, "I lost track of time."
"That's okay. Gave me some time to recuperate. Fang always sets me up like this. I have to attend the Base lectures for him but oh man they make me want to airlock myself."
He yawned. "So this....is new."
She snorted, "between getting blown and finding a job that suited, I had to give guest lectures to future intel ops. Merde, I'm not a fan of public speaking. Better you than me."
Zai sighed. "Thankfully it's only been one speaking one this time. Most of them have been lectures on developments and so forth, which you would think would be interesting but..." He sighed and then waved his hand. "But enough about all that. We finally got our new engineers. I should have their bios and files soon. How about you? Is your department taking on new crew?"
"I'm just about retaining all but one," she smiled, "one is going on paternity leave and has decided to stay on a base instead of rejoining us out in the black." Adrianna had been having dreams about the what ifs in days of late. It was strange how the same dream kept repeating: a cabin on an earth like planet, just her, two children and a man joining her, who the children called dad. It kept switching between Jason and Vance though. Gawd, at one point, it had been both of them. That had knocked her through a loop, but amusingly so.
Zai grinned. "What are you thinking..."
Before she could answer a familiar voice rang out. "BOYO!"
Zai sat up straight. His eyes widened as he saw the three very familiar figures walked towards him. "Adrianna, if you have a phaser or dagger use it on me now."
She looked between Zai and the persons, "at least let me have some fun before I kill you." Of course she was armed. Habit from being undercover for so long. She always carried a dagger at the least and sometimes even a phaser. Today, it was just her dagger.
The woman, a honey brown fairy ran up followed by two men looking to be about Zai's age. Both tall but didn't clear six feet. The woman threw her arms around Zai. "Boyo! It's been forever?"
Zai sighed. "Hello Annabelle, John, Frankie."
The men waved.
Annabelle looked at Adri. "Well! You're not his six three wife who are you?"
"He's not my type, Bella," Adrianna replied with a wink, but shook her head, "I'm merely a friend. Adrianna."
Without being invited she and the dark haired man, John, sat down. "Excellent. I'm Annabelle, as you know, this is John, and Frankie. We were in the same class as Zai! We were all friends."
Zai snorted. "Sure."
She gave him a whack on the shoulder.
Frankie, the quieter one approached. "My apologies I would say that she's not always like this but..."
Zai chimed in. "That would be a lie. What are you three idiots doing here?"
Annabelle smiled, "We're just boarding our new ship?"
Zai's eyes widened. "All three of you on one ship?"
Frankie sat down to Adri's left. "Indeed."
Zai looked at Adri, "There goes the ship."
"It's fine," Adrianna waved him off, "two minutes of listening to how the Coms Chief likes a taste of blood for anyone that crosses them and they'll fall into line. Why do you think your engineers make a path whenever I visit your office?"
He snorted. "Yeah, about that. Visit more often."
Annabelle looked between the two. "Oh my GAWD has he lightened up a bit?"
Zai sighed. "What poor soul has to deal with you three?"
"Oh well the Chief Engineer, one of the best women in Engineering...left so that would be a man named..."
John grinned. "LEE FANG! Since he's not available for us to report in we must report to the Assistant Chief Boyo!"
Zai's eyes widened. "OH NO! NO NO NO!"
Adrianna snorted, watching Zai squirm.
Anabelle laughed. "Ohhh Ms. Coms wanna see something cool?"
Adrianna raised a brow, "depends on whether it's worth my time and will interrupt lunch with my friend more than necessary." There was an amused yet cold tone from her voice. She was all for seeing Zai squirm, but it was clearly getting too much for the poor man.
Annabelle pulled out a small Image tablet. "This is me and the boys at graduation, still one of my fave photos. Look at Zai and look at Chief Lee in his Ensign uniform!" Zai glanced over. He sighed. "That's a great picture."
She grinned "Will send it to you." She showed Adri
Adrianna took the image from her and looked between Zai and the image version of him. A smirk crossed her lips and a glint of something sinister crossed her eyes. Empathy or not, it was clear what Adrianna was thinking. She handed the image back before looking to the trio, "your second in command is on a lunch break with the chief of Coms. Leave it be removed-- and trust me when I say that I have removed bulkier men. But make sure you send me that picture too."
She grinned. "Ohhh there are accouple more. This was taken the night before grad." She tilted the tablet so only Adri could see. There was an image of a fair and Zai holding a purple teddy bear eyes wide.
"I'll send you that one too if you like!"
"Leave willingly, or be removed," Adrianna's voice got colder and much more serious.
"YEEESH. You're like he was in the Academy." She stood. "Well we should go and settle in." She waved. "See on ship Chief Boyo!"
John and Annabelle bounced out while they still could. Frank sighed. "I'm sorry, sir."
Zai shook his head. "Have you three always been together...I mean after you left the Academy."
Frankie smiled. "Yeah. Still together. But nothing has really changed."
"Well," He sighed. "Welcome aboard, there goes the ship."
Frankie chuckled. "I've become better at distracting them and work wise I guarantee you won't complain." He turned to Adri as he stood and bowed. "It was lovely to meet you. My apologies for my friends."
Adrianna smiled, dismissing his apology, "welcome aboard." She waited for them to leave before raising a brow, "what do I get in return for making it look like an accident?"
He laughed. "Ugh...Three planets and a mood." Sighing. "Seriously, there goes the ship. those three clowns... well two are going to make life interesting."
Adrianna nodded, "they'll fall in line. I'm willing to help."
He grinned. "Oh no, Fang stuck me with lectures. When he gets back they are his problem. My revenge on him." He turned to Adri. "Now then. Shall we finally eat while I still have an appetite. With those three I won't be able to eat for days."
Adrianna nodded and raise a subtle hand to the waiter, "absolutely. My offer still stands though."
"And I will probably take you up on it...when we are in space and airlocks malfunction." He grinned.
