Mission: Stars Around the Well
Adrianna had just got back to her quarters. She was ready for food and maybe to have an early night. It had been a taxing day, flipping between languages for the most part to ensure that she was keeping up with a few key contacts. A call came in from her mother and she smiled, switching to her native tongue, "mother, how was your spa trip? Is your new friend still alive, or dead from alcohol poisoning?"
Tanina chuckled, before responding in broken standard, " she here. Not dead. We want to speaking with you."
Oh gawd, Adrianna thought. This couldn't be good. "Hello, to both of you, and congratulations on still being alive after a long weekend with an Italian."
Lee Ren laughed. "I can hold my liquor better then a Klingon at a blood wine party. Now then we have some news for you!" She grinned as she looked at Tanina. Ren all but jumped with glee. "You tell her!"
"You-- we have match for you!" Tanina grinned.
Adrianna's eyes flashed with anger as she switched to her native tongue. The women got into a bit of a shouting match before Tanina put up her hand, reverting the conversation to standard, "your brothers. They boys. You-- you don't have whole life for babies."
Adrianna blushed and shut up quickly, "are you serious!?"
"Very dear," Ren said. "Now then. Given that Fang is like your brother now he's out of the running. Right Tanina?"
Tanina nodded, "absolutely -- too familial."
"But there is a crew member called Jason Frankley. He's in the Tactical Security department. Don't you worry I had Chen research him to the letter. He's a good boy and he's single and looking! You both have enough in common but enough difference to keep things interesting."
"Are you," Adrianna's sentence faded into a growl of frustration, "I am fine on my own. Sort out my brother's first. I can wait."
"Sweetie don't you worry those boys will be married shortly but you first! Now then! I've already set up a date for you!" Ren grinned at Tanina. "Ohhhh We'll have a wedding to plan soon!"
Adrianna glared at her mother and said something rather sharply to her. It caused Tanina to glare back and forcefully end the call.
The Italian paced, frustrated beyond belief when her PaDD dinged. A message from Jason Frankley. She knew of the man, she'd met him a few times in passing. He was over six foot tall, same across the shoulders, pure muscle. He was the kind of man that seemed like a traditional marine. Yes, Adrianna liked a rugged man, but this felt a little too close to home. Their departments often mingled and if this went south, she'd have nowhere to run. Equally, if it went well, would she really want people knowing how much of a secret softy she was? Gawd, no.
The message read: 'Seems you mum and her friend have been speaking to my mum. One date; no strings just a bit of effort. We'll say it ended poorly, but at least we get them off our backs. J'
Adrianna looked puzzled. She had to admit that it was a welcomed relief-- her embarrassment fading. Apparently a number of crew mates had meddling parents. She mused with herself about setting up a club on-board: like a lonely-hearts club, only 'lonely-hearts by choice' club. She sighed and considered replying.
'Simple date. Ended poorly. You were a gentleman. I was a great girl. But there was no spark. But-- we're friends.' She counter offered.
It didn't take long before there was a response: 'Dumb question: what if it goes well?'
Adrianna read the message out loud a few times. She hadn't considered it. Either way, she couldn't think like that-- she had a reputation to uphold on board this ship and in Starfleet and she wasn't about to let it slip for a mere man.
Avoiding the question completely, she simply replied, 'When and where?'
