1,027 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Stars Around the Well
Location: Planet Q

ON:

The Doctor was at the hotel getting ready to meet Puck. Fang, however, had decided to stroll through the market. They had a few hours until the play so he wanted to make the most of it. The atmosphere was... quite amazing. There were people everywhere, costumes, trinkets to be sold, games to be played. The only thing that was missing was the rides. He smiled remembering that last time he was on Earth for Zai's graduation. After the ceremony they had gone back to the event, rode all the rides, eaten all the food, and then left knowing that it would be a while before they returned to the planet they called home for their time at the Academy.

Fang stopped at a stall that sold scarves and material. He looked around a little and something caught his eye. "Excuse me what is this?"

The old man turned and smiled. "Ah...you have a good eye sir. That is a pair of bracelets woven from Koyori wool by a Fariali Waver. Rare and very meaningful."

Fang gently touched it feeling the corded bracelet that seemed to warm to the touch. It seemed to glow a little.

"My, my, my! Now that is interesting."

Fang looked at the old man. "What is?"

"The legend of these fine pieces is that they are meant to be given to your Jodaji."

"What is that?"

The man smiled and patted a small stool. "Sit down son, I'm old and looking up at how tall you are strains my neck."

Fang smiled and sat down.

"Now, then. The legend is thus. Many eons ago the Gods roamed the world. The God of War, Antari and the God of Death and Rebirth Xilota, came across one another. They had a battle that almost destroyed the the village they were at. A Koyori was walking past and its fur started glowing. The Gods stopped quarreling. It was Xilota that noticed the animal was injured but it was Antari's pure heart that healed it. Xilota saw a new side of the War God. It is said that an unlikely friendship formed. In order to bind that friendship and in thanks for the healing the Koyori gave a coat of its fur to a Fariali weaver. From it she made two corded and braided bracelets. Each God took one as a symbol of their friendship. It was said that when the people rebelled against Gods Antari and Xilota were separated and eons after they found one another by the glow of the bracelets. It symbolizes two halves of a soul separated and they will only glow for those whom they are destined for. So if you wear one it will pull in the one your soul longs for."

Fang looked at the woven pieces. His mind went to Xingtian but then an image of Zai flashed in his mind. He shook his head.

"You are thinking of two people."

Fang's eyes widened. "How..."

The old man smiled. "Well take them. The other bracelet will only glow in the presence of your true parted soul."

Fang sighed. "How much?"

Within a few minutes he was back on the road less some credits and with the two bracelets along with gifts for Adrianna and Lanna.

The old man watched smiling. As the big man rounded the corner he pulled out two more bracelets and replaced them on the stand. He turned to the woman standing there. "Miss! It appears you are the one I have been waiting for. Observe how this bracelet glows."

"What is it," The woman asked.

"It is meant to lead you to you Jodaji. Eons ago there were two gods..."

Elsewhere in the Market

Fang walked towards a small shop. He smiled, he knew this type of shop very well. They had many on Earth. He had been hoping to find out. Entering the shop he called out. "Hello?"

A tall Vulcan walked out. A familiar face. "Hello Lee Fang."

Fang's eyes widened for a moment and then he sighed. "Why am I not surprised."

He smiled. "I told you I would be back when you least expect it and when the game gets serious."

Fang sighed. "Is Zai in danger?"

"No, not the way you think, at least not yet. But you just may loose him another way. It's no fun if I tell you how, I will let you figure it all out." The Vulcan shrugged. "You'll know when you see it."

"All these years and you still wear red eyeshadow."

The Vulcan laughed. "Now then, All these years and you are able to make me laugh. Sit down."

"You're going to tattoo me?"

"Dealers choice."

Fang sighed. "Fine. Go for it. I owe you for saving Zai's life in the Fire caves."

The Vulcan motioned to the chair. "Sit down then. Let's have a little reminder of our deal."

Fang snorted. "As if I can forget."

"You pretend to be antagonized but you talk to me often enough in the silence of your meditations."

"Yes, I suppose that I do. Got to pray to someone. I trust you more then anyone else."

The Vulcan smiled. "Excellent. Let's get that tattoo done then. There is a fortune teller around the corner I know you want to visit. Your friend Zai hasn't done a reading for you in a while. Perhaps you've already started to loose him. Remember the deal if his love fades ...."

"Yeah yeah. I don't care about that I just want him to be alive and alright."

And so the conversation ended. Fang walked out of the store with a new tattoo on his wrist and a nervous feeling. Life seemed to be a mess for Fang now but he'd have to sort it all out.

As he walked a statue caught his eye. He stopped to look at it. It was much like the venerated Vulcan masters by the fire caves. Having just seen Shariel at the tattoo shop and having Zai on his mind he allowed himself to indulge in the memory of long ago...
