Personality & Traits

General Overview A Starfleet Science Officer joining in 2229, Henry McEntyre's family has always served in one form or another, going back to the founding of the Federation and even before that in the United Earth MACOs. The Great-Grandson of famed MACO Colonel Josiah “Josh” McEntyre, his claim to fame was the charting of the region in which Cait is located. Currently in his 30th year of service with Starfleet. His wife Kelly is a medical doctor, serving as a Medical Administrator at the Phlox Center at Starfleet Medical. His daughter Kris is currently under assignment with Starfleet Intelligence and his adoptive son, Jeremiah, a Caitian rescued by his wife during her service aboard the Lancaster Class U.S.S. Wolfe (NCC-1217) is currently finishing his first year of residency at Starbase One Medical.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:

Book Smarts - Henry is a learned scholar. From a young age, an innate curiosity of the world around him and that of the universe, inspired him to read and learn. He took a focus and interest on those different from him. The myriad alien cultures of the Federation was of great interest to him and he explored many cultures both before and during his service to the Federation.

Combat Training - In addition to standard combat and weapons training given to all Starfleet Officers, especially during the Klingon War, Henry was trained in many combat styles by his Father, John. A tradition that all McEntyre’s must know how to fight, a trait passed down from Josiah for everyone in his family, a rifleman first before anything else.

Weakness:

Poor Eyes: Henry, like most McEntyres was born with a severe allergy to Retinax V, a common medicine used to treat poor vision. Therefore, he wears glasses when not asleep.
Ambitions Studying the great unknowns. He has a few years to catch up on, after the horrors of war put on hold the many exploration programs during the years of conflict with the Klingons.
Hobbies & Interests Alien Cultures and History
Painting and Drawing
Classical Literature

Personal History Henry McEntrye was born in Dallas at the McEntyre Ranch (as all McEntyres are) on 20th of December 2208 to John McEntyre the Second and Joanna McEntyre. The McEntyre’s being a military family with deep roots in Federation Service, dating back to before the Federation was founded. Henry’s grandfather and Great-Grandfather were MACO officers and Enlisted personnel. He does have family in the service today, specifically Medical Officers and Surgeons, his adopted son, Jeremiah is a Surgeon on DS K-19 and his daughter Kris, is a Starfleet Intelligence Officer.

Growing up, Henry, while honored to be a part of a great legacy, spent his childhood years learning about alien cultures, art, anything beyond the deep rooted sense of duty that his father, John, tried to instill in him. He was never one for fighting, preferring words to brute action. It did not make his father happy, but John, knowing of what his grandfather, Josiah, told him of his own father, took a different tack than beating duty and fighting into his son, but letting Henry find his own path in the galaxy.

Henry was accepted with high honors to Starfleet Academy in 2225, having achieved remarkable scores in his High School classes and admission exams, having been sent to the Starfleet Academy Early Preparatory Colleges at West Point, New York, which was once the home of the Military Assault Command Operations corps. His field of study was Xenoanthroplogy and Xenosciences, having elected to take a doctorate in the fields.

Upon his graduation from Starfleet Academy in 2234, he was assigned to the Lancaster explorer U.S.S. Unicorn NCC-1234 on the Ares XII expedition to the Ares Cluster. He spent almost 3 years aboard the ship, mapping and studying two new species that were on the verge of developing Warp Drive. On leave in 2234, he and his wife, Kelly, welcomed their daughter, Kris. Both agreed to stick closer to home, rotating starship assignments between the two, so that their child could know both her parents. Henry requested to be posted to Earth, near his home in Dallas to raise his daughter. This also was compounded in 2237 when his wife aboard another fabled Lancaster, the U.S.S. Wolfe, responded to a distress call from a (then unenountered) Caitian transport that had been attacked by Klingon raiders. She found aboard a newborn Caitian child, who’s parents had been among the many victims of the Klingons and unable to find further evidence of extended family, adopted the child, whom they both named Jeremiah and brought him home to Texas to raise as their own.

He spent the 2240s as a lecturer and professor of Xenoanthroplogy and Xenosciences at Starfleet Academy. Quiet years for the man, and apart from scattered research between lectures managed to continue publications.

By the early 2250s his children were well on their way to Starfleet service and Henry once again, with the blessings of his family, took deep space assignments again. Accepting an offer from his Friend and Academy Classmate, J.T. Carlson, he was posted to the Constitution Class, U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-1664 as its Science Officer.

The war with the Klingons were desperate years. His children were near the front, Jeremiah at DS-19 and Kris on assignment with the fabled Starfleet Intelligence Section 3. He breathed a sigh of relief when the war ended in 2258 and spent almost a year back home with his wife and kids before he was called back to service to aid one of his former students who had found himself thrusted in command of the Arcadia. He packed his bags, and with the fond blessings of his wife and kids returned to space to serve once more, exploring the final frontier.
